Portsmouth Calais Refugee Aid

21 November 2015

Portsmouth Green Party (PGP) has been supporting Portsmouth Calais Refugee Aid (PCRA), a group of Portsmouth residents who have travelled twice this summer to the refugee camp in Calais that has become known as 'The Jungle' because of its poor conditions. Working closely there with charities distributing clothing, bedding and assisting in the construction of wooden housing for the winter. PGP members donated bags of men's clothing, toiletries and a 6 person tent.

The group will be visiting Calais again on 4th December, to help construct more substantial shelters for the refugees. They will also be distributing a number of woolly hats knitted by the 'Hats Off For Refugees', also supported by PGP members.
