South-East Hants Green Party Endorses Fareham Bus Petition

At their regular meeting on the 12th of August, the South East Hampshire Green Party formally endorsed the Western Wards People’s Voice’s petition to reinstate the socially necessary service to Fareham Community Hospital and to increase the flow of buses to Whiteley.

The South East Hampshire Green Party discussed the petition and current situation of transport across the region, concerns were raised from local jobs to the welfare of pensioners in the Borough. Miles Grindey, former candidate for Warsash in the recent Local Elections, said “Managers of stores in Whiteley had said they were worried about keeping their shops open due to the amount of staff unable to get to work on time, it’s hard enough for young people to seek work around the area without the problem of a poor public transport network.”

Members of the local party also expressed concern about the “horrendous situation” that local pensioners are finding themselves in when it comes to actually going to an appointment at the Fareham Community Hospital, with many spending a large amount of money on taxis or waiting for two hours to get a bus that may not even show up.
