South East Hampshire Green Party to stand candidates in 75% of local constituencies.
A week after Natalie Bennett, Green Party leader, announced that the Green Party will be standing in at least 75% of General Election seats in 20151, South East Hampshire Green Party has revealed that people will be able to vote Green in three of the four constituencies they cover.  There will be Green Party candidates in Fareham, Portsmouth North and Portsmouth South.  The candidates names will be announced on completion of the selection processes.

Portsmouth Greens Coordinator Ian McCulloch said “This will be the first election since people have had a chance to see Greens in action in Westminster, with Caroline Lucas in the Commons and Baroness Jones in the Lords.  There has been a surge in applications to join the Party this year, with membership growing by 28%, and the Young Greens2 growing by 70%, against a backdrop of falling memberships for the traditional parties, and this has also been reflected locally, with particularly strong growth in Southsea”.

The number of local Green Parties has more than doubled since 2012 and there are now 162 Green councillors on 57 principal authority councils.
