Fareham Greens Oppose Transport Cuts Across Fareham And Gosport

Members of the Fareham Green Party condemn the latest cuts to public transport across Fareham and Gosport.

The Green Party has always supported local groups fighting for better public transport, like the Western Wards People’s Voice and their bus petition. Members believe the cuts are economically and socially damaging. Local Party Co-Ordinator, David Harrison, said the consultation (and the CAT meeting last week) was a sham – there was no consultation, and it smacks of the usual premeditated outcome followed by “informing” the affected parties of the decision when it’s already too late to change it.

Green Party Campaigner, Miles Grindey, said “It is just disgusting, how is this democratic? We have spoken to many individuals across the Borough, who have lived here all their lives, and they are appalled at this lack of transport across Fareham. Not everyone can afford a car, and many pensioners are STILL calling for a bus to the Fareham Community Hospital and many young people are STILL calling for better bus services to Whiteley so they can get to work.”

The Fareham Green Party is to continue campaigning for better local transport and fighting cuts.
