Speakers included Rory O’Keeffe and Angie Zelter.

Angie Zelter talked about her work on various projects that directly address the International Law that states ‘the threat or use of nuclear weapons would generally be contrary to the rules of international law applicable in armed conflict’

The slides displayed many examples of different campaigns to highlight opposition to Trident. Angie encouraged others to get involved with non violent direct actions, and mass civil disobedience at government establishments with connections to the United Kingdom's Trident weapons systems. Most importantly the message was - ‘Be very vocal in your opposition to nuclear weapons’.

Rory O’Keeffe was previously political correspondent for the News. He had travelled to Libya and other areas involved in the Arab Spring whilst he worked for charities. Rory recounted his journeys and observations of the changing political landscape and movement of people. He read excerpts from his book giving personal accounts of the difficulties and hardships faced by refugees.

The talk was informative and afterwards there was a good deal of discussion and questions arising that provided for a very informative evening.

£50 was raised on the night for Fran (of Wild Thyme, Southsea) to make use of for Calais refugees project.

Blackwells book shop attended the evening and both Angie and Rory were happy to sign copies of their books.
